Science Class- Dec. 1-5
This week, we learned the jobs of the cell organelles and we learned about DNA. DNA is made from genes, and controls things like what you look like and what you do. DNA stands for dioxyribose nucleic acid. So far, we've figured out that dioxyribose means 2 oxygen based sugars. DNA is a double helix shape. The two long lines are sugar strands, and the lines in between are nitrogen based. The nitrogen based lines are made of mostly nitrogen, connected by hydrogen bonds. In bacteria, DNA can be separated and replicated. I think that we are learning about cell organelles and DNA so that we can better understand how cells work.
