This week, we have been working on a project. We made and bred bugs that are called reebops, and did some did some things for the project. The project was made up of some of these mini project things. These were like review for everything after the last test.
One part of the profect was an essay about meiosis and mitosis. We had to write an essay about meiosis and mitosis, and how the reebops used them. The parent reebops used the meiosis to make gametes and pass down half of their homologous pairs to the gametes. When the reebop was a zygote, it used mitosi to make more cells and grow bigger.
Another part was to make the gametes with the karyotypes inside of it. This was pretty easy, as long as you know which parent the gene came from. We also had to make the genes the color of whoever it came from.
The other part was making a lesson for how to make a Punnett Square on the smart notebook. That was mostly a review.
The other part was making a blog about how genetic variety played a role in the reebop family. If you mated with different people, you would have a bigger family, and chromosomes from more people.
We also made a wikispace page a bout a genetic disease. My disease was haemophilia. This affects the blood clotting factorin the X-chromosome. People with this disease have blood that cannot clot.
